The Argentinian legend that is Leo Messi is once again one of the favorites to win the 2016 Ballon d’Or. Messi has had a very impressive year with the La Liga title, Copa Del Rey, Spanish Super Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and the Club World Cup. Lionel Messi has done almost all that a player could dream of achieving. The only achievement that holds Messi back is winning the COPA America and the World Cup. The Argentinian national team is very strong, but they always seem to slip up when it counts. They made it to the championship of the COPA America last year where they were defeated by Chile. Again, at the last World Cup in 2014, Argentina fell to Germany in the final game. Once Messi wins either of these tournaments with his national team, he will have done everything that a soccer player could dream of. Each year, Messi shows everyone why he is arguably the best player in the world. His only competition each year is none other than Cristiano Ronaldo. You can buy Messi jerseys HERE.
In his own words, Cristiano Ronaldo had the best season of his life. He won the Champions League with his club Real Madrid and he also won the European championship for his country, Portugual. This was the first ever European championship win for the country of Portugal so Ronaldo was extremely happy with this win for him and his country. With 51 total goals in 53 appearances, Ronaldo does not seem to be slowing down with age. Over the past 8 years, no other player besides Cristiano and Messi have won the Ballon d’Or. This year seems to be no different as these are the two top contenders for the famed prize. You can buy Ronaldo jerseys HERE.
After winning the European championship with Portugal, Renato Sanches looks to get the Bundesliga title this year with Bayern Munich. Bayern are currently in 2nd place on the table behind RB Leipzig, but Bayern will definitely make them work for the top spot. Sanches has a lot of potential as a midfielder because of his power and raw strength. At the young age of 19, Sanches is an exciting player to watch and I am looking forward to him playing in the future. You can buy Renato Sanches’ jerseys HERE.
2) Christian Pulisic
The U.S. international midfielder, Christian Pulisic, is 18 years old and already playing at a big club; Borussia Dortmund. Pulisic is the U.S.’s only hope as of right now. With the firing of U.S. coach Jurgen Klinsmann, the U.S. national team hopes they will improve as soon as possible. As for Dortmund, they will keep fighting for a top spot in the Bundesliga. At Dortmund, Pulisic currently has 2 goals and 4 assists for the season. Playing overseas at such a young age, Pulisic is definitely mature beyond his years. He has some incredible potential as a player because of his pace and his insane dribbling. You can buy a Pulisic jersey HERE.
3) Marcus Rashford
Currently playing at one of the most expensive clubs in the world, Marcus Rashford at the age of 19 made a name for himself last season for Manchester United and later the England national team. He currently has 3 goals this season for Manchester United despite the Summer signing of the Swedish superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic. From his amazing season last year for Manchester United, he was able to go out for the England national team. Rashford quickly made his presence made on the England national team by scoring in his first game for his country. Rashford is a super fast striker who is fearless on the pitch. He has a lot of potential to become great because of his youth, pace, and passion. You can see that when Rashford is on the pitch, his only motive and desire is to score and win. This drive makes him a dangerous player to come against. You can buy a Marcus Rashford jersey HERE.
Paul Pogba has always been known for his unique hairstyles over the years. It is like every game he has a new haircut or a new hair color. He often has blonde highlights in his hair, but what makes Pogba’s hair even more unique is that he uses blonde highlights in his hair for designs. He has even had the internet famous “dab” lined in his hair once as you can see in the photo on the right. Being a world record transfer, I’m sure he has enough money to get as many new haircuts as he wants. As one of the most expensive clubs in the world, Manchester United and Paul Pogba will be trying to fight for the Premier League title. I wonder what kind of haircut Pogba has up his sleeve for next time. If you want to buy a Paul Pogba jersey, click HERE.
2) Stephen El Shaarawy (AS Roma/Italy)
The Italian international has a haircut that is only unique to him. The Roma winger does not change his hairstyle like Paul Pogba does, but El Shaarawy has his own distinct style. Whenever people think of El Shaarawy, they think about the guy with the spiked hair. From last season to now, El Shaarawy seems to have found his form again. El Shaarawy’s club, AS Roma, are currently battling with Juventus for the top spot on the table. Roma are currently 2nd behind Juventus. El Shaarawy has 2 goals and 1 assist so far in the season. You can buy El Shaarawy jerseysHERE.
3) Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid/Portugal)
Cristiano Ronaldo has always been known for having neat and nice hair. He frequently changes his hair style. Ronaldo doesn’t change his hair style as much as Pogba does, but only changes it slightly. During games, Ronaldo can be seen with extremely gelled hair which rarely moves throughout the game. His hair is usually slicked back to either the right or left side and nowadays, he gets lines in his hair.
This year has been the best for Ronaldo because he won the Champions League with Real Madrid and the EUROs with his national team, Portugal. Ronaldo was most happy with the EURO win with Portugal because it was Portugals first EURO championship win ever. Cristiano hopes to keep the near perfect year by winning the La Liga title this year. Real Madrid seem to be in the driver’s seat right now because they are at the top of the La Liga table and are not looking back. Ronaldo and his Madrid teammates look to keep the amazing season up. The Welsh international that is Gareth Bale is one of the fastest soccer players in the world. What makes Bale so special is that he is just not pace, but he also has world class talent on the pitch. Playing at one of the best clubs in the world, Real Madrid, Bale is watched on the main stage by millions. One of Bale’s greatest goals occurred in the Copa Del Rey final against Barcelona where he was nudged off the pitch but managed to sprint past Barcelona centre-back Marc Bartra and score. This was a real justification of how fast Bale is. Gareth Bale on the field has a top speed of 34.7 km/h or 21.6 mph. When Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo both retire from soccer, Bale will be competing for the Ballon d’Or. You can buy Bale’s Real Madrid jersey HERE.
The Dortmund striker shows his insane pace in every game he plays. He once ran 30 meters in only 3.7 seconds! Real Madrid has been trying to sign him recently because he has much more potential than Karim Benzema and Alvaro Morata. Aubameyang’s card in FIFA’s game mode, Ultimate Team, is the closest thing to a cheat code in the game. With his pace, no defenders can match up with his pace and strength. Aubameyang and Borussia Dortmund always put up a fight against even the toughest of teams such as Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. In the Champions League group stage, Dortmund managed to draw with the Spanish club. In the Bundesliga, Dortmund recently beat the German giants that are Bayern Munich. You can buy Aubameyang jerseys HERE.
After moving from AS Roma to Juventus last Summer, I was very happy for Pjanic because he has always been one of my favorite soccer players. After discovering him on the game FIFA, I used him in some of my teams. He was a complete beast in the game because of his free-kick ability and his long shots. He is one of the best free-kick takers in the game statistically and he was the best at taking long shots in my opinion. From using him in the video game, I knew I had to watch him play in real life.
After watching a couple of his games playing at Juventus, I was happy at how good he was in real life too. It was pleasantly surprising to see that he was not only good in the video game, but also in real life. With the world record transfer of Paul Pogba to Manchester United, Pjanic is seeing a lot of playing time in the midfield. Currently, Pjanic has already 13 goals and 4 assists for Juventus with more success to surely come. You can buy Pjanic’s Juventus jersey HERE.
2) Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City)
Leading all of the Premier League in assists with his club, Manchester City, Kevin De Bruyne is a favorite for most soccer fans. Being only 25 years old, the Belgian international has a lot of time to improve his game even more. With the new manager, Pep Guardiola, De Bruyne and Manchester City hope to fight for the Premier League title this year. I have always been a fan of Manchester City and the Belgium national team. Whenever I would see Manchester City playing on tv, I would be rooting for them to win. I started to like the Belgian national team because I used to use them in FIFA. The Belgium national team has young, amazing talent. With attacking players such as Eden Hazard and Romelu Lukaku, Kevin De Bruyne will be the man to send them through to score a goal. You can buy your own Kevin De Bruyne jersey for Manchester City HERE.
3) Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid)
As some of you could have guessed, Cristiano Ronaldo is my favorite soccer player. The sole reason I am a Real Madrid fan is because of him. Each season, Ronaldo continues to be arguably the best player in the world. After winning the Champions League and the EUROs this year, Ronaldo will be a favorite to win the Ballon d’Or this year. At age 31, Cristiano and his club, Real Madrid, are at currently sitting at the top of the table above rivals Barcelona. Madrid is currently unbeaten and they hope to continue this streak with their tough game this Saturday against Barcelona. Cristiano leads all of La Liga with 10 goals this season and he hopes this will help him on Saturday against Barcelona in the first El Clasico of the season. You can buy Ronaldo’s Real Madrid home jersey HERE.
This is probably the best place to wear a soccer jersey because it is filled with people and some of them are bound to watch soccer. When I went to Georgetown for the first time with my friend, more than five individuals came up and talked to me about soccer because I was wearing an Arsenal jersey. I went on a Saturday and Arsenal played earlier that morning against Chelsea and won the game. I knew Arsenal was playing so I decided to wear their jersey even though I do not support the team itself. I’d say the city is the best place to get approached when wearing a soccer jersey because of how populated it is. If you want the Arsenal jersey that I was wearing, you can buy it HERE.
Currently, I am a student in college. At the beginning of the year when it is still warm, I wear some of my soccer jerseys around. Doing this is a great and easy way to make new friends at school. This is great because the people you meet that come up to you will already have a common interest. While standing in line to get food from our cafeteria, a guy behind me recognized the Liverpool jersey I was wearing. He told me that he liked the jersey and that he himself was a Liverpool fan. I was happy he liked my jersey and because I made a new friend. It is extremely easy to make friends in school if you show what your interests are in the clothing you wear. You can buy the Liverpool jersey I was wearing HERE.
3) Bars, Hair Salon, etc.
I am not old enough to go to a bar, but I can only imagine how easy it would be to make friends there on a Saturday evening. At bars, soccer games will most likely be played on the television so it would be easy to see who else is watching the game. From then, you could try and find out who they are supporting in the game. You’re probably asking yourself “Why would I wear a soccer jersey to get a haircut?” and I don’t blame you. When I went to Georgetown that one day, I also got a haircut that morning. I do not advise yu to wear a soccer jersey when getting a haircut because excess hair can stay on the jersey. When I was waiting to get my hair cut, a father of two asked me if Arsenal were playing today and I responded yes. It was funny how almost anywhere you go, you can get recognized and approached my complete strangers.
After winning the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, the German National team looks to repeat in the next World Cup in Russia. They will be wearing these beautiful, clean home jerseys for the World Cup qualifiers this year. I hope they continue to wear these home jerseys for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Their home jersey is white like always but this year decided to add a clean design to the front. I personally love jerseys that incorporate shapes into their design. In all clothes, certain shapes have a nice look to them. If you want to rep this jersey for the next World Cup, you can buy it HERE.
2) Juventus Home 16/17
Currently sitting at the top of the table in the Serie A, Juventus wears these original home jerseys. They really did not change much about their jerseys from last years. The only thing they changed is the size of the vertical black and white stripes. They increased the size of them meaning there are fewer stripes on the jersey, thus making the jersey much cleaner. Last years Juventus home jersey looked very similar to the A.C. Milan home jersey because of the small sized stripes. Now, Juventus’ jersey has a more distinct look. You can buy the jersey HERE.
3) Paris Saint-Germain Third 16/17
This jersey has always been one of my favorite for this season because of how clean and simple everything is. The colors are simply white with black lettering. There is no stand-out design on the jersey which makes the jersey super clean. My favorite part of this jersey is the shiny and reflective white Paris Saint-Germain logo in the upper left chest area. Last Summer, my family and I visited Paris, France for our family vacation. We stayed there for a week, but unfortunately, the Ligue 1 season had not started yet. From walking around the city of Paris, there were many soccer stores selling jerseys from all over. Over in the United States, you rarely see a store dedicated specifically to selling soccer jerseys. Anyways, the jerseys they were selling were too expensive so I did not buy any, but from walking around in Paris, I saw many people of all ages and genders wearing Paris Saint-Germain gear. If you love this jersey as much as I do, you can buy it HERE just in time for the holiday season!
